BaSO4 (barium sulfate) additive masterbatch is a type of filler masterbatch used in BOPET films to improve their properties and reduce costs. BaSO4 is an inert and non-toxic mineral that can be added to BOPET films to increase their density, stiffness, and opacity. Its also called a Void (Air) generator and give whiteness to the film.

PET is highly susceptible to the hydrolytic reactions that occur during application and during thermos- mechanical processing. These reaction leads to decrease molecular weight of polymer limiting number of recycling the materials.

Pinning agents are a type of additive masterbatch used in BOPET films to improve melt conductivity without increasing the crystallization rate. Increasing the phosphorous level in PET will decrease the melt conductivity whereas Pinning masterbatch control phosphorous level to maintain the melt conductivity. It also controls the coefficient of friction (COF) and improve their handling and processing properties. These agents work by creating a surface with micro-scale roughness on the BOPET film, which can increase its friction and improve its ability to grip and hold onto other surfaces.
